Merging Two Products

Context

A startup has the idea of ​​turning the administrative charge of the credit card into a telephone plan. The goal was to offer two products in one, credit card and phone plan. The challenge of this project was for the user to understand the differential use of the product, where he would "win" a telephone plan using his credit card. It was necessary to maintain a coherent interaction design when bringing these two universes together. 

It was an MVP scenario where I needed to prototype and test quickly to validate the business and present it to the investment fund.

My role

I was responsible for defining how the product would be, doing desk research, wireframes, prototyping, monitoring, and UI validation.

This product was presented to a startup fund in the insurance segment, where I showed the full product definition and validation for them.

Approach

This product was aimed at young people. Stakeholders wanted the product to be closer to the daily use of these users. With that, we tested some gestural interactions to access some of the detailed information like the credit card bill and phone data. We did several versions and tested to see what the best solution was.

We were able to place a product that the fund was familiar with on contextual use, screen insurance for the cell phone. Through the accelerometer, we knew if the cell phone had had any sudden motivation. The moment that would happen, we offered screen insurance. This feature that users commented on and liked the most for the app "predicting" something wrong and providing a solution.

The big business challenge was for the user to understand both products and that the phone plan would be "free." After being validated by the users, the stakeholders and I presented the prototype and usability tests for the fund. 

They got a new round of investments, and today the product is under development and getting ready to launch.
